Sebastian Sünkler AKA STAHLSCHLAG has released a new EP over the weekend, 'Assortment'. He posted some details about the existence of this release on Facebook.
Just another new release on Bandcamp. I decided to put some "leftovers" on an EP. The sound is more diverse and that's the reason why the tracks didn't find another place for a release. Maybe you'll like some of the music on the EP anyway.
Sünkler even points out in the details for this release that these tracks were produced between 2021 / 2022. So this is just a release dropped off on his way to something bigger, which he posted about in mid-August.
STAHLSCHLAG, 'Assortment' EP
"Apocalypsis" fires up this 4-track set. The industrial beat builds up well from the beginning. Then it really takes off at 1:05 when it becomes danceable. The electronic beeping at 1:45 adds another layer of intensity. The growling of the track settles in at about 2:07. Then we get to "Lowbite" which dabbles in a little more atmosphere with a crunch. Well, a series of crunch. Appropriate that "bite" is in the title. My personal favorite is "Fade Away", and the longest track on this release at 4:37. It has a combination of what we have in the first two tracks but there's a little more John Carpenter in there to where it could even be a remix of a J.C. track. I also like the warpiness warbbles of "Dark Princess", but this one has less energy of the four. A good experiment of what Sünkler would feel works or doesn't. Were I a DJ, I would blend these into my mix to set moods between tracks. All of this has visual appeal where I can see it all being very effective on the dance floor.
