Messaline
Based out of Anglet, France, Messaline's latest release is the kind of melodic, psychedelic rock n' roll I've always drifted towards. I'm a Dandy Warhol at heart and these guys hit my main vein with their first release, Hétaïre. With this one, probably because they too are French, I get The Teenagers vibes.
INVASIVE KUDZU TO OVERWHELM DIY SCENE WITH 'DEFEATED'
SHORT-HAIRED DOMESTIC, 'SELF-TITLED'
SUPERWAV'S LATEST EP IS SO 'ATYPICAL' OF THEM
- "Nauséa",
- "Kill The Job" (if only because they sample the infamous quote: "Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career," from Trainspotting. Renton says in T2 that this quote is from a commercial. I don't know for sure but I was triggered by it. "Trainspotting" is one of my favorite flicks.
- "Old Time", is the track that gives me those The Teenagers vibes.
- "Molly" does too, perhaps more than "Old Time". Very sexy.
- "Networks" is a solid punch.
- "I Don't Sing", is a great track. The dynamics have a Smashing Pumpkins type of vibe and they throw a lot of play into it that closes out one hell of an album!
