Gianfranco Pescetti,

Instrumental atmospheric electronica is one of the sounds that Giantfranco Pescetti is chasing with the current cycle of his music career. His instrument of choice for the longest time has been the bass, which he played in 14 Mission. He has since gone solo, releasing his own music since 2014. When you listen to his work, you're gonna get atmospheric, melodic hooks from songs that are also danceable. Oh yeah, Pescetti also has a dancing background. He knows what makes a person move and it comes through in his work. It's ironic that he left music for a bit to pursue a degree in landscape architecture. It further infuses the builder in him to no doubt be a more methodical composer. I mean, this guy is dangerous. Okay, so he returns to music and then pulls away again, to do a cover out of the Great American Songbook, "Fly Me To The Moon!" Wait until you hear what he does to it!

Gianfranco Pescetti Takes On Outer Space

Gianfranco! Slow it down! This guy is a jack of all trades and a master of every one of them, yikes! He's already turned into an astronaut with "Fly Me To The Moon!" Why do this? If you know the song, all you have to do is hum the melody and it stays with you. This is likely what happened to Pescetti but it's also very different when it takes real estate in his head as opposed to the rest of us ham-and-eggers.

"I was drawn to the beautiful, melancholic and nostalgic vibe of the original jazz standard that really resonates with me. It started out as an experiment to see if it could work as a dance track without losing some of its original vibe while giving it a fresh twist. I also decided to take a different approach and create an instrumental version which allowed me to expand and introduce new musical motifs. I also thought it would be cool to introduce it to a new audience. Plus, it has provided a refreshing break from writing my upcoming album which I am in the middle of."

Clearly, there's no stopping Pescetti. As of this writing, I'm listening to his 2014 debut release Love Is Rain which is so versatile and full of vigor that nearly 10 years later, newer releases for his upcoming second album is proof that he's not going to release something unless it's ready. In fact, his debut album was actually recorded ten years before it was released! Da fuck does that tell you!?

AMBIENT ELECTROPOP FROM THE PANDEMIC RUINS, PAUL FEDER REFLECTS ON EPS & ANXIOUS FUTURE

EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC PIONEER CHRIS IANUZZI, "EDGE OF THE EARTH" (REVIEW & INTERVIEW)

While we're here, this cover reminds of me when Black Needle Noise covered another American standard, "What A Wonderful World" from their These Mortal Covers release. It's an example of how a real cover should be, well... covered.

Gianfranco does the same with his cover, making it sound as if this is the original treatment. You can't deny that his version is very danceable and as a bass player, he adds the perfect stylings to make the track so. I often use the word "bright" to describe when a track has a life of its own. You can't deny that this track is in fact alive. If it serves as a chance to take a break from his focus on the new album, then he has a very bright disposition even at rest. It's not a sunny one. I mean, we're talking about the Moon here!
